Coaching and Consulting Services

 Coaching & Consulting Services

As a coach and consultant, I can help you in many ways, depending on your needs and the developmental stage of your book. I offer a 10-week coaching program to support and guide you to get your manuscript into final draft and ready for production (copyediting, proofreading, layout and design, etc.). I’m also available to provide a Manuscript Evaluation of your materials that includes a 45-minute consulting sessions to give you feedback and direction. If needed, I can help you to produce effective marketing materials, such as a book proposal and/or query letter that put you on a path to publication.

Coaching

A coaching program is ideal for authors who have a book inside them (or sketched out, even half-written!) but for one reason or another, haven’t produced a final manuscript. Through one-on-one support sessions, I coach you to generate text, organize your book’s content, and develop voice and tone, so you can write your own book.

Times and dates are by arrangement, but we typically meet for one hour weekly or bi-weekly on the phone/Zoom for ongoing direction and feedback. The 10 sessions can be extended to take place over a period of up to 6 months, if needed. I set up a structure for accountability with weekly assignments, including me reading your text and giving you feedback and direction on text you send me. For additional editorial services you may need once your manuscript is written, I provide references and guidance to get the job done. Fee for 10-week program: $2,250.00

Manuscript Evaluation

Get feedback and critique, plus direction and support to move forward with your nonfiction book or memoir by receiving a Manuscript Evaluation. I’ll read your first 50 pages (12.5K words) and TOC, and let you know what is needed to organize and develop what you’ve written (or are thinking about writing).  This may include a 45-minute session by Zoom or phone.
Fee for MS Evaluation: $495.00

Marketing Support

If you choose the self-publishing route, I can help you get your manuscript ready for submission to an online self-publishing company. Further marketing support would come from third party publicists and online marketing experts. If you choose a traditional publisher, I can help you prepare a Book Proposal and a Query Letter to seek representation by an agent or a contract with a publisher, who often will also market your book.

Book Proposal. A Book Proposal summarizes your book’s content and pitches it as a viable money-making proposition to a traditional publisher. A sample chapter is often part of the proposal. Depending on how far along your book is developed, I can review a Book Proposal you have written and guide you to make it more attractive to agent/publisher.

Query Letter. This document pitches your book in one page, interesting agents and publishers to see more, which could be either a book proposal or the full ms. if done.

 I’m Not A Literary Agent, But….

Because my work as an editor has me interact often with publishers and agents, I sometimes come across the “perfect fit” for an author, resulting in the author being represented by an agent or signed by a publisher.

“Nancy Marriott’s fresh and skilled eyes, her organized and kind direction helped me to tighten a complex work and transition more smoothly. She was ingenious with directing the work’s overall flow, adding details and cutting others, all while taking great care with my intent and my voice.”
