As a consultant, I can help you in many ways, depending on your needs and the developmental stage of your book.  I can provide a one-hour consulting session, live or online, to give you feedback and direction for whatever stage your book is at—from “idea” to manuscript-in-the-works. If needed, I can help you to produce effective marketing materials, such as a book proposal and/or query letter, to put you on a path to publication. As a book coach, I offer a 10-week coaching program to support and guide you to get your manuscript into final draft and ready for production/publication.

Consulting

Get feedback to move forward with your nonfiction book idea or initial materials. I can meet you live if local (I’m in Montpelier Vermont) or online through Zoom for a 1-hour session. Fee for consulting session: $295

Manuscript Evaluation

I review the first 50 pages (12.5K words) and Table of Contents of your manuscript, and let you know what is needed to organize and structure what you’ve written. We meet live if local (I’m in Montpelier Vermont), or on Zoom for a 1-hour session.. Fee for MS Evaluation: $495

Coaching

A coaching program is ideal for authors who have a book inside them (or sketched out, even half-written!) but don’t yet have a final manuscript. Through ten one-on-one support sessions, I coach you to generate text, organize your book’s content, and develop voice and tone, so you can write your book.

Times and dates are by arrangement, but we typically meet for one hour weekly or bi-weekly on the phone/Zoom for ongoing direction and feedback. The 10 sessions take place over a period of up to 6 months, if needed. I set up a structure for accountability with weekly assignments, including me reading your text and giving you feedback and direction on that text . For additional editorial services you may need, I provide references and guidance to get the job done. Fee for 10-week program: $2,250.00 

Marketing Support

If you choose a traditional publisher, I can help you prepare a Book Proposal and/or Query Letter to seek representation by an agent or sign with a publisher.(If you choose the self-publishing route, marketing support would come from third party publicists and online marketing experts.)

♦ Book Proposal. A Book Proposal summarizes your book’s content and pitches it as a viable, money-making proposition to a traditional publisher. A sample chapter or two is often part of the proposal. Depending on how far along your book is developed, I can work with you to produce a finished Book Proposal for submission to agent/publisher. Fee for Book Proposal services starts at $695 and goes up depending on total word count and editing level.

♦ Query Letter. This document pitches your book in one page, “hooking” agents and publishers to see more whether a Book Proposal or the full ms.. Fee for Query Letter is $249.

 I’m Not A Literary Agent, But…. 

Because my work as an editor has me interact often with publishers and agents, I sometimes come across the “perfect fit” for an author, resulting in the author being represented by an agent or signed by a publisher.
